The longest line of cubes!

During Maths time a group of children worked together and made a very long continuous line of cubes that went out the classroom door! The children thought it might reach Tuatahi if they kept working on it!

Later at Play Based Learning time the cubes were a favourite choice again, this time the challenge was to make a continuous line from the back door of Room 4 to the front door.  

Do you think the line of connected cubes made it from one side of the classroom to the other?

YES it did!

What amazing team work Room 4 tamariki.  You all showed great Manawanuitanga!

Exploring with paint and cotton buds

During Play Based Learning time this afternoon the tamariki were able to choose to come to the art table and paint.

Not a paint brush in sight - instead they used cotton buds (and sometimes fingers and hands).

It was really exciting to watch and listen to the children talk about being 'artists' and observe the way they decided to use a limited colour pallet and unconventional painting instrument.  Some of the children were excited when they discovered the technique of printmaking - painting one piece of paper and printing it on to another!

Wow what a great Book Week!!!

Room 4 children really enjoyed celebrating Book Week.

And we LOVED dressing up as our favourite book character.

This week in the library we had a treasure hunt for 10 Kiwi's. Room 4 found them all!!!

STOP! DROP! and READ!

Celebrating book week is lots of fun!  

Every time we heard the special music on the loud speaker this week we stopped what we were doing to enjoy reading!

On Wednesday we were just finishing our lunch when we heard the music on the loud speaker.  So ……. we stopped, we dropped and we read!

We have so many great books to read in Room 4!

Play Based Learning

 Room 4 was a hive of activity this afternoon during our play based learning session.  

Flynn made a peg board pattern using colours and a square shape, we noticed that the squares got smaller and smaller.

Sobhan asked if he could use the water colour paints, I think Sobhan loves doing art.

Abdale opened a Toy Shop and organised all of the toys for the customers to see.

Jackson and Flynn enjoyed playing with the toy animals in the fresh air outside.

You can't see the school bus that Jette, Charlotte and Ayala are playing with but it was filled with bugs!!!  I wonder where the bugs were going?

Are you shopping Lian?  Did you find any bargains at Abdale's toy shop?

Sami was counting all of the money, I wonder if he was going to go shopping?

Thanks for joining me for a Memory game today Sami, Jackson and Flynn!  It was a challenge to begin with but we kept going and found lots of matching pairs.
