Ngā Ringa Awhina

We speak about Ngā Ringa Awhina as we read our school pepeha so today we decided to go and visit Ngā Ringa Awhina to learn more about it.

Ngā Ringa Awhina is our Piringa (shelter).  It means, "The Helping Hands."  It represents the joining of cultures and is how our Te Reo Māori class came to fruition, from many groups of people, including local iwi and the community.

Ngā Ringa Awhina is our place of learning tikanga Māori.

Term 2 Week 3

Term 2 Week 3

We had a great start to the week and it ended with the Police Eagle Helicopter landing on our school field!!!

Police Helicopter

We were very lucky to have the Police Eagle helicopter land on our field.

We loved walking around and looking at it.

The police officers are our Superheroes in the sky.

I am lucky that one of the police officers is my brother.

The best part was watching it land and take off.

Here are some videos

Ball Skills

We went outside and worked on throwing and catching tennis balls. We also tried rolling them along the ground.

Calendar Maths

We love doing calendar Maths with our own whiteboard. We have been learning about tally marks, number sentences, patterns and tens frames.

Dancing

This week our dance was called 'Dancing in the street'

We are getting really good at learning the moves each week

100 Nights of reading

Well done Sami for completing 100 nights of reading

Monsters

We read the book 'The colour monster' which was all about feelings.

Here are our monsters we made

Pink Shirt Day

On Friday we celebrated 'Pink shirt day' to support Anti Bullying

Wow what a week!!!
